No. 1: Deju vu. OK, OK, the Jets win was big, the Chiefs are 2-10 and the Broncos are at home. This is about the time the Broncos feel good about themselves, and this season has been just the scenario that has resulted in some of their worst Football. They have to find a way to keep their momentum.
No. 2: Shut him down. The last time these teams played, Larry Johnson went 65 yards up the middle on the Chiefs' second play from scrimmage. The rest of the day was almost academic after that. If Johnson controls the tempo again, the Broncos will be explaining their second home loss of the season to what had been a two-win team.
No. 3: Fence him in. Chiefs quarterback Tyler Thigpen has been forced to learn on the job with a rebuilding team around him. And truth be told, not even the Chiefs brass might have known he would have progressed this far in seven starts. But he has been a playmaker, moves well - he leads the league's quarterbacks in rushing - and has thrown eight touchdown passes in the past four games.
No. 4: Break free. Brandon Marshall has caught one touchdown pass in the past eight games. He is closing in on another 1,000-yard season, but if he wants to be an elite receiver, he has to do what elite receivers have done for decades - beat double coverage when his team needs a score.
No. 5: Be complete. The Broncos have had at least one rushing touchdown, at least one passing touchdown and at least one sack in only four games this season - they're 4-0 in those games - but only once in the past nine games.
