--It looks as if everyone with the Chiefs will be starting with a clean slate in the new Scott Pioli-Todd Haley administration.
Even if the old slate contained an impressive resume of work.
Sources close to Pro Bowl guard Brian Waters, for instance, told the Kansas City Star that the leader of the offensive line was offended by his first brief meeting with Haley and would welcome a trade or outright release.
The unidentified source said Waters, just coming off his third Pro Bowl appearance, came to Kansas City on his own to meet with Pioli and Haley in hopes of being briefed on their plans for a new direction.
He didn't get a sit-down with Pioli, and in a brief meeting with Haley was told, in essence, that no returning players were on firm ground. Waters' recollection of the discussion, according to the source, included Haley saying he could get 22 players off the street and win two games in the NFL, as the Chiefs did last year in the worst season in team history.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Conversations between me and my players will stay private. Right now, along with Scott (Pioli), I'm trying to find some football players to add to this roster. We're still in the process of finding coaches and I don't have a lot of time to worry about a lot of those things right now." -- New Chiefs coach Todd Haley, asked to comment on team leader Brian Waters' being offended to the point of seeking his release after his first conversation with his prospective new coach.
