--Kicker Nick Lowery, who was cut 11 times by eight different teams before beginning an impact career with the Chiefs, is the club's latest inductee into the team's Hall of Fame.
Lowery, who kicked from 1980 through 1993 and remains the team's career scoring leader, replaced NFL Hall of Famer Jan Stenerud in a very controversial team choice in 1980. Lowery eventually was selected to three Pro Bowls.
He will be the 39th member in the team's Ring of Honor at Arrowhead Stadium.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I can show you the economic studies that show it is a net loss financially. That doesn't mean we don't want it. I want it. I do not want to be the mayor who lost the Chiefs and the Royals." -- Kansas City mayor Mark Funkhouser, who has proposed dropping the city's annual $2 million contribution for upkeep at the Truman Sports Complex, rejecting arguments that the two-stadium complex has a major financial benefit to the city.
