KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A storm featuring heavy rain and strong wind caused a delay of 1 hour, 26 minutes to the start of the St. Louis Rams-Kansas City Chiefs exhibition game Thursday night.
The storm hit the stadium about 6:30 EDT, chasing fans under the stadium overhang and sending players and coaches scrambling off the field to the locker rooms.
The game was originally scheduled to start at 8:05 but the start was moved up an hour to accommodate television coverage of the Democratic National Convention.
The game finally got under way at 8:31 p.m., but the long delay meant the national anthem was not played.
