Vinny's Picks
The end of the Thanksgiving weekend schedule is packed with important contests. All but two of the remaining 13 games hold playoff implications, with seven games holding at least a modicum of playoff importance for both clubs.

Game of the week

*Patriots over Steelers, giving 1 ? If, at the beginning of the season, someone said New England would have back-to-back 400-yard passing games for the first time, no one would have jumped. But if that person added, "without Tom Brady," he would have been hauled off to the asylum.

Worth watching

*Redskins over Giants, getting 3 1/2 ? These teams have split their series in six of the past eight seasons, and the Giants won the first meeting.

Broncos over *Jets, getting 7 1/2 ? Denver wins in Atlanta, then gets walloped at home by the sickly Raiders. So this must be the Broncos' "up" week. The Jets might be flying a little high after their Titanic victory.

*Bucs over Saints, giving 3 1/2 ? Tampa Bay has not lost at home. New Orleans is coming off what could have been a season-saving game against Green Bay on Monday night. This one should be very, very interesting.

*Vikings over Bears, giving 3 ? Minnesota appears to be the best of a mediocre lot in the NFC North. The winner takes over first place in the division.

*Packers over Panthers, giving 3 ? Green Bay's defense was helpless in New Orleans. However, Carolina's offense doesn't rival the Saints' attack, and the Panthers are not a very good road team (2-3).

Dolphins over *Rams (off) ? The young Miami team took a shot to the belly of confidence Sunday against the Pats. So the Dolphins don't run up as much of a score as some might expect against pitiful St. Louis.

Jaguars over *Texans, getting 3 ? Most Monday night games require the mute button to be employed. This one also might require the blank-screen button.

*Bills over 49ers, giving 7 ? It's a wonder how an ailing offense can get better playing against the Chiefs' defense. Buffalo has a chance to get on a little roll against another defensively inept team.

Colts over *Browns, giving 4 1/2? Just when Brady Quinn looked as if he was taking over, he suffers a finger injury that puts him out for the year. What else can happen to Cleveland?

Ravens over *Bengals, giving 7 ? Baltimore has a real shot at a wild-card spot. Cincinnati has a real shot at the No. 2 draft pick.

Yawner of the week

*Raiders over Chiefs, giving 3 ? Based on last weekend, this should be a second straight Oakland blowout, believe it or not. Look for some big changes in K.C. next year.

*Home team
